Why Modern-Day Parenting Is in Crisis

"5 Reasons Modern-Day Parenting Is in Crisis, According to a British Nanny" is an article written by Emma Jenner that I've just recently read which identifies 5 reasons why modern-day parents could be raising children who might grow up as self-centered, spoiled, selfish, and rude adults. The five reasons as described by the author are:

 1. We always want to please our children. Parents especially us, moms, always want to please our children, we always want to give what they want.
2. We don't discipline our children. The author is saying that children nowadays lack discipline because we do not do our part to discipline them.
3. People in the community don't care as much anymore.
4. We are teaching kids not to be patient.
5. Some parents forget that they have their own needs to meet, too.

Going back in time in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam 🇻🇳

Walking through the photo display and exhibit of the War Remnants Museum was deeply moving and unforgettable. I wasn't born yet when the Vietnam War began in November 1955 but growing up I would have poignant memories about the horrors of this long-drawn-out war which lasted for 20 harrowing years. Amidst the heart-wrenching moment brought about by this brief trip to memory lane, though, were simple joys like the warmth of the people, the noise of scooters, the quiet beauty of their ubiquitous coffee shops with instagrammable appeal and the aroma of cilantro, an important spice that gives that distinct flavor to their unique cuisine. This wasn’t just a trip. It was a window into a country that has seen so much yet able to smile and show hospitality to visitors. Loneliness has become a way of life. What initially starts as a few quiet days can turn into weeks, months, or even years of loneliness and isolation. The world outside feels distant as relationships fade and reaching out becomes more difficult. The loneliness trap is not just about being physically alone; it’s about feeling unseen, unheard, and disconnected from the world. The trap often happens unexpectedly. It can begin with a major life change like losing a spouse, retiring from a longtime job, or children leaving the family home. At first...

Valuable Information Pregnant Moms Should Know About Gestational Diabetes

Gestational diabetes is a condition which occurs among pregnant women who experience high blood sugar level in their pregnancy even if they never had previous diabetes history. This disorder is dangerous to both mother and baby as the baby could develop congenital defects and chemical imbalance after birth which would make it necessary for the baby to be placed in a neonatal intensive care unit. Gestational diabetes mellitus happens when the body's insulin is low as the insulin receptors cannot function well because of the presence of human placental lactogen that interferes with the susceptible receptors. Gestational diabetes hardly shows any symptoms making the expectant mom unaware that her condition needs urgent and immediate treatment. When this happens, she could experience pre-eclampsia during pregnancy and more likely give birth by Ceasarian section. She is likely to develop Type 2 diabetes after giving birth. The child, on the other hand, cou...
